The acrylic painting shown at left is a heady study of  the first Russell Terrier we owned - Dudley.

Above and at right is our first breeding bitch, Crowe's Nest Jackalyn.  She also earned 2 points in AKC competition - but she didn't like dog shows.

Jackie is now retired and living like the Queen she always knew she was; romping around the barn, sleeping in the big bed, and being adored by one and all.  Thanks "Ma Shelly" for loving her as much we do!

UKC Ch Elk Creek Beamer

Beamer came to live at Crowe's Nest in October of 2009 in co-ownership with his breeder, JoAnn Stoll, Elk Creek Russells, Yuba City, Ca. and Billie M. Sumrell, Ravenhill Russells, Bear Creek, NC.

Already a UKC Champion, he began his AKC show career in January 2010 at the tender age of 8 years. In limited showing, and handled by Terry, this tough, solid, veteran dog defeated  dogs not  even half his age to  earn 10 points toward his AKC title while at Crowe's Nest.

The frosting on the cake, came in May, 2010,  when his string of Best Of Breed and Best in Miscellaneous Classes awards garned him an invitation to the prestigious AKC/Eukanuba Championship Show.

In June of 2010, Beamer moved to his other co-owner's kennel, Ravenhill, where he is now co-owned by Billie Sumrell and JoAnn Stoll, and will be shown by Billie M. Sumrell.   We wish them continued success.

Crowe's Nest Zorro, our first stud dog, at right  being shown in Richmond, Va., in 2010.  He earned 5 points toward his AKC title in 6 shows - but he didn't really enjoy the travel.  What he really wanted to do was play ball - that's what he does now, that and sleep.  Zorro is now contentedly at home with the Payne family near Asheboro, NC (below right)

Hey Terry,

I just wanted to let you know how Zorro was doing. Everybody that meets him just loves him and some say they wish their dogs were like him. We boarded him several times at a kennel close by and the owners twin girls said that he was their favorite dog. The owner said he had never  considered having a Jack Russell until he met Zorro.

We are moving to Ocean Drive Beach within the next year and have been taking the little guy with us when we go there. He loves walking on the beach and meeting people. On the 3 1/2 hour drive to the beach, Zorro is a perfect travel companion.

Thanks for letting him come live with us. Zorro and I are practically inseparable. He still is a first class ball player and can do tricks with a basket ball that are amazing. I have enclosed a photo of Zorro and of course he has a ball near by.

   Thanks again,

       Joel

Being a small kennel, with just a few dogs, gives us a special luxury - we really get to know and love them all!  It also gives us a special sense of loss when it comes time for them to move on; whether it be to a new home or to that great sofa in the sky.

This page is devoted to all the Russells we have owned and loved over the years.

Crowe's Nest P-P-Piper (above and at left) has also retired from showing and breeding, and now runs the Racey household in Moore County, NC.
